The Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival takes place every August in Oak Bluffs at the Performing Arts Center (PAC).
The festival was founded in 2002 by Stephanie and Floyd Rance and has grown to be an internationally acclaimed film festival with visitors flying in from around the US to attend.
The Martha’s Vineyard Lodging Association is honored to be the preferred recommendation from the Film Festival for Martha’s Vineyard hotel lodging for festival attendees.
In this regard we are often asked which is the closest island lodging property (hotel, resort, inn, B&B) to the festival and the film screenings.
So here are the six closest hotels to the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival:
- Nobnocket Boutique Inn – A leading Martha’s Vineyard Boutique Hotel located 2.7miles from the festival and on the direct #1 bus route
- Mansion House Hotel – A larger Martha’s Vineyard hotel directly on Main Street in Vineyard Haven located 3 miles from the festival. This hotel is on the #1 bus route
- Crocker Inn – Bed and Breakfast near the water in Vineyard Haven. Located 3.3 miles from the festival
- Charles & Charles – Vineyard Haven B&B with swimming pool and larger rooms. Located 3.4 miles from the festival
- Tivoli Inn – A small guest house in Oak Bluffs located 3.9 miles from the festival
- Oak Bluffs Inn – Oak Bluffs best rated inn and housed in a gorgeous historic building. The inn is located 4 miles from the festival
- Edgar Hotel – Full-service hotel with restaurant, located on the approach to Edgartown. Located 4.2 miles from the festival. The hotel is on the #1 bus route.
Getting to the festival is easy by taxi, Uber or using the #1 Bus which drops riders off directly at the film festival. With the festival taking place during the island’s busiest month of August, it is important to make your hotel bookings early. Many return attendees book their room a year in advance. Likewise, if you intend to bring a car, then you must log on to the Steamship Authority website as soon as they open up that year’s ferry bookings, which is typically the end of January.
The festival also throws numerous after-parties and off-site events which tend to take place in downtown Oak Bluffs.
Safe travels,
Simon
