When Are The Fireworks On Martha’s Vineyard

There are two main fireworks events that take place in the summer on Martha’s Vineyard. The biggest one is the Oak Bluffs Fireworks that takes place every year on the Friday after Ilumination Night at the Gingerbread Houses. This is typically the third week in August. The best location is at Ocean Park and people will start gathering in prime locations during the afternoon. The fireworks display will typically take place from 9pm. This is a display like no other given the proximity to the barges setting off the fireworks. You have the feeling that the fireworks display is taking place directly above your head.

The second big night is July 4th with Edgartown playing host to the Independence Day display. Once the July 4th parade is over the crowds head down to the harbor to watch the colorful display. One great option for viewing is going out on Vineyard Haven’s Black Dog Tallship, the Alabama, to see the fireworks from the water out in Edgartown harbor.

Both these events are busy nights on Martha’s Vineyard so book your Martha’s Vineyard Lodging Association early!
